Scientific Research Project. [more information]

As a way to give back to the surrounding community The K2 Group has decided to finance a scientific research trip for The Science Academy at Morristown High School. This study, which has been designed by Erin Colfax, is titled "A scientific investigation of Iceland through the eyes of a poet." Erin is a Research Science Teacher at Morristown High School who travels around the world in attempt to bring science from all seven continents to her students. In the past Erin and her students have designed studies that have taken her to all seven continents. 
Science Academy

In this latest journey Erin aims for students and educators to partake in a collaborative research investigation of Iceland, where poetry is used as a means of describing the environment of Iceland by incorporating quantitative and qualitative data. As a result she hopes to formulate a connection between literature and science.

The research investigation written by Mrs. Colfax has just recently received an award from the Center for Science, Technology, and Mathematics from Kean University that will be presented at the New Jersey Science Teachers Convention in October. Furthermore, the research investigation will be unveiled to the public at the Annual Convention for the National Council of Teachers of English in New York City in November 2007. The K2 Group strongly supports this project as it has the potential to lead students into careers that incorporate the skills of writing and conducting scientific research.
